John explores ‘off the beaten track' to produce inspiration to paint the atmospheric mood of the natural environment and the wildlife that inhabits it. Working from sketches produced‘plein-air, he then explores the forms of nature with expressive brush stokes and characteristics of the medium, seeking spontaneity and quality of light.

Directions: From Marlborough take the A4 west. Just after Cherhill turn right to drive through Compton Bassett towards Hilmarton. After 4 miles turn right SP Bushton. In 0.8 miles turn right SP Clevancy. Alternatively from Broad Hinton go to Clyffe Pypard and on to the Bushton crossroads. Turn left to Hilmarton. In 1.6 miles turn left SP Clevancy.
