WELCOME TO MOS 2009
Our web site provides information and links to the Artists' individual web pages. Marlborough Open Studios is about creating opportunities for Artists, enabling them to make their work accessible to as many people as possible by welcoming the public into their studios over the weekends throughout July. This year there are 59 local Artists participating in Marlborough Open Studios, 17 of them new to the scheme. Do take the time to visit not only returning Artists with their new work but also our newcomers. As you will see from the brochure, work ranges from those who take a traditional creative approach to more contemporary and experimental practitioners.
Should you wish to see a sample of the Artist's work prior to a studio visit there will be exhibitions at The White Horse Bookshop and The Nataraj Art Space in Marlborough. Further examples of work will be displayed at The Ridgeway Gallery in Marlborough and The PACT Gallery in Pewsey. There will also be a temporary exhibition in the windows of what used to be Woolworths on the high street in Marlborough. Once again, MOS has teamed up with the "We love Marlborough" initiative and there will be a number of artists displaying their work in commercial premises throughout the town. I trust that there will be something that everyone can relate to and enjoy.
I would like to thank the MOS committee for their dedicated work in putting together this brochure and organising what I'm sure will be another successful Open studios. Thanks also to Wiltshire Council for their generous financial contribution towards the costs of running this year's event. This brochure provides all the information you need about the participants, exhibitions and other activities taking place during July. Open studios and venues are in colour coded zones highlighted on the map in this brochure so that you can devise your own art trails. Opening times and weekends vary, so please check venue details carefully.
How to find the studios
Beside each Artist's name is a studio number which corresponds to its location on the map. Studio directions are given in each listing and outside each studio will be a sign/poster displaying the studio number. Wheelchair access is marked with a symbol, but please telephone the artist or studio directly if you have any other questions. I hope you enjoy all of the studio visits you make during MOS 2009.
